Let them eat cake.
Jay Scholar was born February 18, 1991 in Jacksonville, Florida. At the age of 7, he moved to Charleston, South Carolina. Growing up, Jay Scholar was referred to as a “nerd” because he attended a private school. Where some saw this as a negative, Jay managed to turn the word “nerd” into a positive. Jay Scholar took advantage of his school’s emphasis on creative writing and began composing poetry. Poetry soon turned into lyrics that gave way to making music. After much hard work and determination, Jay Scholar released his first mixtape, “Study Hall,” which spawned his radio single “Cheating On You.” “Cheating On You” was met with positive reviews and ranked in the top 10 on the online radio break out charts. Jay Scholar recently collaborated with Andre (Giant) Boykins, an original member of Public Announcement, and Columbia Sounds to complete his EP
“Birth of an Icon,” set for release in summer of 2012.
