Fresh from supporting Dom Kennedy at his sold out London show this Tuesday, Negash Ali is ready to present the visuals to the title trackfrom his â€The African Dream†EP; After the successful releases of â€What You Got†& â€Fire in The Skyâ€, Negash is now ready to introduce people to his unconventional life story;
Born to Eritrean parents in the midst of the Eritrea and Ethiopia conflict in 1990, Negash’s family spent 5 years invarious refugee camps before settling in Denmark. Negash says about the track & video:
â€I felt like I had to introduce the world to my story and also shed some light on what it means to be a refugee. My parents dream was always to come to Europe, so their children could have better opportunities, so in that sense I’m a product of that dream, hence the â€The African Dream†title.â€
Negash has recently moved to London yet he’s already managed to strike a publishing deal with Warner Music, get â€What You Got†premiered on BBC Radio 1Xtra, perform at the Lovebox Festival & share a bill with The-Dream. This was done in co-operation with CapitalXtra, where Negash was named “New Breakthough Act of 2013”.
The 23-year old Eritrean has also written for and worked with the likes of Chris Brown, Jadakiss & Bob Sinclar, opened up for Ne-Yo, Wiz Khalifa, Nas, Damian Marley & performed at Europes 2 biggest hiphop festivals; Splash & HipHopKemp.
