Bringing the knowledge and the struggles of streets to the world through music is what KYD Gwap is doing in full force with passion, perseverance and dedication. Born Kendall Smith Jr. and raised in Connecticut, KYD Gwap the artist evolved through overcoming the pressures and temptations one faces growing up in the streets of Hartford, CT. Falling victim to those struggles has allowed him to find a place and strength of mind to share his lessons and give back to the community through music and community outreach to the youth in Connecticut. You can expect originality and versatility in the tracks KYD Gwap touches upon. His lyrics are born from his experiences, not exaggerated to make up a story.
Immersing into the scene, KYD Gwap has opened up for French Montana, Rick Ross, Lil Kim and Dipset. He also draws upon his inspiration from the late, great Notorious B.I.G. He has several mixtapes in the works with Haris Amilli of Freshwaterlifestyle.com that will soon be bursting through a speaker near you! What’s truly inspiring beyond the music is the high school tour that is in the planning process that will allow KYD Gwap to speak to students and encourage them to strive higher and overcome the pressures of the streets so that they don’t fall victim to crime or guns. The time is now, for kids to be inspired, lives to be saved and for KYD Gwaps stories to be told.
