EQ x EK “One Session: The Mixtape” [DON’T SLEEP]

EQ is a hip hop hybrid hailing from Richmond VA. While his flow is definitely heavily influenced by New York rappers and the modern lyrical underground, the mix of singing transitions between verses and evidence he’s provided showing he’s no novice at R&B either gives EQ a unique edge on other cats in the vicinity of his style. With influences ranging from Big Pun to Iron and Wine, the love of raw lyrical technique he saw had developed in the underground scene and a taste for more vibrant musicality spawned something unique, known as EQ. At nineteen years of age after two mixtapes and opening for XV, Mac Miller and Chris Webby, the self-engineered lyricist is set to release an entire mixtape of himself on Nujabes tracks in late November before he releases a more definitive EQ-centered mixtape in the Spring. Here’s EQ x EK with six tracks of some raw east coast shit.
