8barz was started september 2010 officially. the name was kinda though up in a last minute 20 minute deadline for our first major label commissioned remix. it was a combination of the fact that personally, I have been spinning’ in nightclubs for 2 decades, so it had to have “bars, or braze” in it. Also Bars are how compositions are broken down in terms of quantizing. 8 bars is the actual amount of time for most intros in extended 12 inch remixes in the old days. It seemed fitting.
The greatest part of what 8barz does today, is to work in official capacities with all the major labels, taking turns. No long term commitments needed at this point, I simply have working files sent to me, and pop out a remix in a day or two. We have so many great fans worldwide now, with most of our stuff on rotation with Sirius XM BPM radio, and booking requests coming in for the United States, I am very encouraged to keep going. I personally have to turn down four or so projects per week to keep the quality as high as possible, so if you want to propose a production or remix job, email me at colin@8barzmusic.com 8Barz Music pretty much charges a base price to cover expenses and some time, but overall, the end product is solid.
