Trends in Online Dating & You

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of MeetLocals.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

Recently, 2 pretty cool new dating sites opened up. The first, Shop4Guys.com is geared specifically toward chicks who are looking for dudes. It’s sister site is Meetlocals.com and as it’s name implies is full of local men and women walking in the same shoes as you. Both of these websites offer two different levels of paid membership upgrades, consisting of silver and gold status, with some pretty cool features – one of those being “face-to-face” webcam chats with prospective singles. And, since they’re new all of the member accounts are constantly active!

It’s no secret – online dating is one of the newest and most effective ways for people from anywhere in the world to meet singles just like themselves without having to leave ones residence. I’m not saying that’s a good thing – but it’s something different if going out and meeting people isn’t your forte. In the US alone, users spent $469.5 million on online dating/personals in 2004. That number reached $500 million the following year. That marked the largest segment of paid content online – other than pornography, according to a study conducted by the Online Publishers Association and comScore Networks. That’s not to say every experience ends with wedding bells but what have you got to lose?

If those stats alone aren’t enough to sway you, try this… Some big time celebrities have given the internet dating game a try. Halle Berry, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo and director Luke Greenfield have all popped-up in profiles on popular sites. That just goes to show you that everybody goes through a dry spell once in a while, famous or not!
